The debate over the cause and effect of global warming will continue. Population growth & industrialization have increased energy usage and carbon dioxide emission. Cutting forests & tress and not planting new ones further amplifies the problem. The climate change is real. Long hot summers and extended cold winters seem to be the trend in this part of the world. Springs are autumns are lost somewhere. A Climate Change, Agriculture & Food Security (CCAFS) report indicates serious shortage of food supply and climate change is quoted as the reason. But there is still hope.
While the UN works to create awareness and broker agreement between countries on carbon dioxide emission levels, it is exciting to read about the tangible steps e.g. Europe opens the first solar powered railway tunnel on Monday (6th June 2011). Kudos to Bollywood stars Piryanka Chopra and Rahul Bose for taking initiative to motivate us to plant new trees as part of WED Challenge (Word Environment Day Challenge).
What can we all do to continue enjoying beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets as in these pictures?
