Tribute to Technocrats

A fellow blogger SG presented me ‘Cherry on Top’ award for the choice of my blog posts subjects. As part of acceptance of the award, I am asked to write three good things about myself. This is my attempt to tell something about myself.

A French poet Jean De La Fontaine once quoted “By the work one knows the workmen”. He was right but in the world of computers, the workmen are hardly visible though their work is widely used.

In our daily life, we use personal computer for social networking, word processing, accounting, communication, reading news, paying bills, sharing pictures, making personal videos and accessing variety of information from millions of website. Cell Phones, Televisions, Microwave ovens, Car Dashboard, CD Players, Electronic Keyboard and musical instruments use electronic devices designed by computer professionals. Computer professionals made it all possible for us.

Let us see beyond the daily life.

Computer and internet revolution helped bring economic boom in developing countries like India, China, Taiwan, Korea, Brazil and east European countries. The economic development improved the life style of millions and created jobs for hundreds of non computer professional too.

Precision of computer models to predict the weather calamities saves lives of millions. Reliable and fast communication using computing devices in the telecommunication equipments helps save lives at the time of accidents or medical emergencies. Medical equipments have computing devices that capture images of inside and outside of a human body and present three-dimensional view on a computer screen for accurate diagnosis.
Being able to read and write on a computer saves paper, reduces fuel consumption and in turn makes us environment friendly.

Access to information is a key factor to learn new subjects and different aspects of life. Internet brings information to the living rooms of the remotest places of the world.
Media, Print, Construction, Banking, Finance, Retail, Manufacturing, Medical Research, Bio Medical….the list is endless that use computers.

Computer Professionals made it all possible.

I am proud to be a member of the team that brought computer revolution.

:) Congrats on the award and on being a member of the "winning" team. I think every person who has ever been on the net is responsible for its boom. Its a need based industry.
I had written a post about internet recently. Do check it out in my musings sections.
