My heart goes out for the friends and families of victims of 9/11. In my opinion, it was not a war against America. It was a terrorist act against the world and the humanity. People from seventy countries living, visiting or working in New York died. The victims were hard working innocent people with no influence, connection or relevance with policies of any state or country.
Even after nine years, the memories of live telecast of burning twin towers, scared and injured men and women, smoke, chaos, widespread fear and firefighters are still alive in the minds of viewers who watched it on television miles away from the actual crime scene. Think about the those who who were physically there and those lost their beloved ones!
It is a great tragedy. More than 3000 innocent people died. My heart goes out for the families of the victims.
Your post is concise and to the point. I liked it. Very right, its ridiculous to call it war against America. Its all those innocent lives that they claimed. What did they achieve?
@SG:- I agree.
@Insiginia:- News media today is full of Mosque issue where as I think we should talk more about victims' family/friends and the innocent lost lives.
May they all rest in peace and their families continue to find strength to deal with the loss.
I remember seeing the words 'War Against America' on the news channels with the burning towers in the background, for the very first time that day and feeling confused as I sat glued to the television...
Wars are deplorable. But terrorism is way worse. I wonder if we will ever see it being eradicated... During our lifetimes... Or will we just keep bearing witness to innocent lives being wiped off in vain...
Remembering Nate - one of our friend's husband! He was out of job for nearly 9 months and had just started a new job in one of the towers few days earlier...
We wish the best for his wife Keol - wherever she is right now! (slowly she went out of touch with all of us)
Ironically, 9/11 is Id today also it is Ganesh Chaturthi- symbol of peace.
What ever happened was very unfortunate.Terror is no longer an issue concerning one nation.World is very concerned and the civil society must get together to find away out or else the madness just might spread still further.
Thats so true...its shameful watever hapnd..:(
Happy Ganesha Chaturthi to you and your family. Hope Lord Ganesha brings happiness and peace in your life.
May their soul rest in peace who lost their life in 9/11.
It was shocking and it had people glued to their TV sets for days together!! Would you be interested to read this? This post, written by an eminent senior writer is even more shocking than the incident itself:
I remember the news channel was switched on full day that day. My kids were very young then, but they still remember those images. I don't think anyone can forget such things. Nothing can justify that act or any other such act of terrorism. May their souls rest in peace.
TRUE.. Islam doesnot teach what is being told or made to be beleived..
THe 9/11 all it did was bring more hatred and yes kill all the innocent people..
GOd will never forgive those who planned or did it .. I remember the day i was on way to heathrow to go and pick a friend of mine who was coming for a few weeks to stay with me ..
and its just a coincidence the same guy is coming with family next week for 3 weeks again..
@Tanvi:- I agree with you.
@Choco:- Exactly. TV viewers remember everything vividly. Think about the people who were there and and those who lost loved ones.
@NRI:- Really sorry to hear about it.
@Kiran:- Yes. That is the irony.
@BK:- I agree fully.
@Punam:- Thanks. I will check it out.
@Jyothi:- Yes. That is the point
its politics at higher level but its the common man who suffers...thats how its always been...and thats how it should never be!
It was a tragic event for sure!
Whenevr terrorists strike, they are doing a inhuman act against all humanity and they nevr achieve anything, because achievement is always from positive actions only..still they dont understand.
May the souls of people who died in the attack rest in peace.. Lets dream for a happy,safe and a tolerant world!
I guess it was a shameful act by those who wished to take away world peace,'cause instead it strengthened the bonds. We are still fighting against it, I hope one day terrorism is banished...
Tribute to those who lost their lives...
And my hope prevails!
Yes like u said, the sight is unforgettable...i cant get tht out of my mind. I hope someday we will be able to put at end to terrorism.
Insignia said it right.Your post is concise and to the point..It's an incident which people will not forget easily..
@Sana:- I agree. But I wish we could change that. A common should not suffer because of politicians.
@Samvedna:- Well said. Achievement is through positive actions. Thanks
@Bedazzled:- Yes. Let dream for a safer world. Dreams do come true sometimes.
@Tanvi:- I agree. I have hope personally.
@Ria:- I remember each and every reaction of every person who was with me in our office conference room watching TV. It was horrible.
@Ramesh:- Thanks. I don't think I can forget it.
Heart touching post, it is indeed such an unforgettable event that left the world totally stricken with horror, disbelief and grief.
It was definitely an act of terrorism. I would also like toadd that a terrorist has no religion, their only religion is 'terrorism..'
I also take time on that day to remember the military coup in Chile on September 11th 1977 when president Salvador Allende was killed and democracy overthrown. For my boyfriend, who is Catalan, it is the anniversary of his country's loss of independence to the Spanish almost 300 years ago. Not a good day all around!
@Sanand:- Thanks. I agree with you.
@Budh.Aah:- Yes, terrorist have no religion.
@Emily:- Thanks for the comments. To be honest, I am not too familiar with Chile but I thought the coup was in 1973. We don't get to read too much Spanish history but living in France, I picked some aspects of Spain including autonomy for Catalan and recent referendum to break away from Spain. Learned / refreshed something new that we usually don't get to see in USA media.
Sorry, it was in 1973. I have no idea why I wrote 77! And my boyfriend is busy working for independence (probably as we speak. I hope they get it so he stops making me watch depressing movies about opressed Catalans! My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
....it's a reminder a very strong one at that, that blindly following anything leads to harm.....
a prayer for peace
It was a moment that no one will ever forget. I think each of us knows exactly what we were doing at that moment, where ever we were.
So true-those images will always bring on horror and revulsion.
Its also a fact that the world over there are countries/states where terrorism is a part of life and no one keeps track of the body count anymore. Whats happening in Palestine/Israel, Afghanistan/Pakistan/India or the bloodbath by the Tamil Tigers for almost three decades is no less pathetic or distressing. But unfortunately these tragic incidents do not get the attention and focus they truly deserve.
@Emily:- Thanks. Sorry about movies.
@Sujata:- I agree.
@Latha Nair:- I agree with your comments about the list of the countries.
but USA showed , bush showed how to handle and answer terrorist.
@SM:- I am not sure if the USA and/or other countries have been successful in handling terrorism. It did not repeat in the USA soul though.
so true dear those images are etched vividly in my mind, i hope the families of the deceased have found peace now
