Let us see where I live:

Capturing pictures of tourist spots is common but quite often memories exist close to home that we tend to ignore. My current home town Cary is a small beautiful suburb of Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. It is around 263 miles (423KM) south of Washington DC on the East coast of the USA.

Downtown Raleigh is not like New York or Paris but it has its own charm of a small town. However the real beauty of my hometown is the woods, trees, greenways, walking trails, parks, and lakes. Spring and autumn are in particularly pleasing, so here are some pictures of a spring evening:

Usually a busy crossing of downtown Raleigh in the daytime but after office hours it is slow. Walking on this part of the downtown in the evenings is not a common practice among locals but of course some of the best restaurants are in this area.

No, this is not my house. But it is not uncommon to see houses on the lake. A nearby subdivision has several homes with backyard facing the lake.

It was interesting to see a single boat in the lake.

Usually my Sundays end with a walk at this lake around sunset.

Beautiful pictures. The scenery is really breath taking , I like to see early morning or evening pictures when the Sun's light is minimal.

Photography with low light is a beauty in itself. I envy you...you have a serene neighborhood.

Beautiful snaps...Lucky that you can walk by the sides of a lake during weekend... where I stay, it is vast expanse of barren land and concrete monsters...

I love the pictures. The Raleigh I saw was not as pretty as your pictures. I must complain to my sister for not showing me this.

I have been to this place when my son was living in Raleigh. He took us to almost all the restaurants there during our frequent visits.

Beautiful pictures and lovely thoughts about your home town! I know we often overlook our own home because we are busy taking pics of places we visit.

My youngest daughter will be marrying a young man from North Carolina in October- I believe he is living not too far from Raleigh- well his parents are living there- he is actually living right here in Washington State.

It looks lovely where you live. How nice to walk in the evening by a lake instead of through a crowded city. That house looks way too big for that lake however!

Why don't you buy that house and settle down near the lake? Wonderful place to live :)
